ERIE RAILROAD: "SKI TRAINS, TRACKCARS AND TRAILS" Tells the story of the rise and the decline of the Erie Railroad's Newburgh branch. From the earliest days of construction, through the years of the ski trains and railfan trips that were the last gaps of passenger service; to the decline of the 1970's and total abandonment a decade later. The five miles of the branch that are still intact, from Newburgh to Vails Gate, were covered in volume one of this series Ramsdell's Rails. This book will follow the 14 miles that were abandoned in 1983.
