Chil is a courageous and loyal chinchilla living in the highlands of South America. His best friend, Vizzy, is a strong-willed and energetic long-eared vizcacha. One day after a wise condor tells Chil that there are many wonderful things to see outside his home, he and Vizzy decide to leave their mountain friends and travel to the valley floor to explore a new and exciting world.
As Chil and Vizzy set out on their quest, they venture into a mostly unknown landscape full of unfamiliar animals such as culpeos, alpacas, llamas, and vicuñas.
