Children are constantly exposed to negative self-defeating images and messages. Developing a sense of identity and understanding who you are can be a daunting task. Sometimes, girls can begin to rely on unhealthy messages to shape their perspectives of themselves. The goal of this book is to inspire the development of a healthy self-concept even in a world where differences may not be celebrated, values may be challenged, and dysfunctional social norms are promoted.
