Based upon the life of a real woman, the story evolves to include her daughter and, long after her death, her granddaughter, Julia. Three powerful women, ruthless, demanding of others, proud and fearless interact beyond time and generations. Many secrets were held by the family and, one by one, become unraveled by Julia, whose relentless pursuit of the truth of her family's identity leads her to the center of a world she never could have imagined.
