A collection of nine articles and lectures, many previously unpublished, written by the renowned social and ecclesiastical historian, David Newsome. This collection has the linking theme of studying history through a 'mosaic of vignette-studies', and includes articles on John Henry Newman, Thomas Arnold and Samuel Wilberforce as well as more general themes such as the emotive style of Victorian writing and the value of Charles Dickens to an historian.
