To own a czechoslovak wolfdog (cwd) has become a status symbol among dog connoisseur. This rare breed of dog, with traces of the Carpathian wolf in its blood, was created by a colonel from the former Cechoslovakia in the 1950s and still fascinates the cynophiles. Zaira is a female puppy, shoved around like a parcel, from one owner to another. Enthusiasm for Zaira soon vanishes and the nightmare begins as a succession of owners try to get rid of this difficult pet. Zaira is impossible to manage until she encounters, at age 11 months, the author, Michele, who adopts her, giving her another chance in life. Michele thus becomes her reference point and introduces her, not without difficulty, into a pack of 3 other females: Nut and Nefti (cwd) and Iside (hybrid). This true and touching story of a rejected puppy reveals the difficulties that arise with the acceptance of Zaira among the pack. After this experience he decided to publish his books in the U. S. only. He chose an unusual way to do it, dedicating them to the large Italian-American community present in this great country.
