Joseph Kaye's life is a muddle and it's his father's fault. Jacob Kaye has made an important decision for his son that alters his life and his way of thinking. It puts everything that Joseph believes in jeopardy. While Joseph is disturbed by his father's unexpected action, he goes along with it out of filial love and duty. However, while suffering the consequences of his father's decision, he meets new and different people and is surprised at the complex, ugly, and exciting people of the world. As a result, his view of life begins to broaden and deepen but not without struggle and regret. He doesn't reject his father or his past; he tries to build on the strongest parts. Can he learn enough about himself to set out on a new path of his own or will he be crushed by his burdens? Will he always be a searcher and never a finder?
