Free to Be is a compilation of poems, stories and testimonies written by women who suffered domestic abuse. The book is an endeavor of love, created by brave women from all walks of life, who helped each other's voice be heard, sharing their pain, fear, and loss, and their tales of hope and survival. Free to Be relates the stories of women who still struggle with abuse, of women who were beaten, shot, and sexually-abused, and others who are now Free to Be, and yet all carry the scars of love turned terribly wrong. Unfortunately violence is part of our culture and Free to Be is an attempt to raise consciousness and help assure a non-violent society. Lots of women take pride in its publication of Free to Be. We believe that our stories are cautionary tales that deserve to be read by every woman so that domestic abuse will thrive no more in silence and darkness. All profits from the book go to Turning Point and will help women who are still striving to escape abuse and achieve freedom.
