Ever since Tatian circa 170 A D people have tried to unite the four gospels into one narrative. This volume was written for everyday people. It is small and was inexpensive making it accessible to almost anyone. The story of Jesus begins "There came a man, sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for witness, that he might bear witness of the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came that he might bear witness of the light.
