Contributor Bio: Hall, Joseph Plutarch (AD 46 - AD 120), was a Greek historian, biographer, and essayist, known primarily for his Parallel Lives and Moralia. He is considered today to be a Middle Platonist. Tommaso Campanella (5 September 1568 - 21 May 1639), baptized Giovanni Domenico Campanella, was an Italian philosopher, theologian, astrologer, and poet. Francis Bacon, 1st Viscount St. Alban, (22 January 1561 - 9 April 1626), was an English philosopher, statesman, scientist, jurist, orator, essayist, and author. He served both as Attorney General and Lord Chancellor of England. Sir Thomas More (7 February 1478 - 6 July 1535), venerated by Roman Catholics as Saint Thomas More, was an English lawyer, social philosopher, author, statesman and noted Renaissance humanist. He was also a councillor to Henry VIII and Lord Chancellor from October 1529 to 16 May 1532. Joseph Hall (1 July 1574 - 8 September 1656) was an English bishop, satirist and moralist. His contemporaries knew him as a devotional writer, and a high-profile controversialist of the early 1640s. In church politics, he tended in fact to a middle way. Henry Morley (15 September 1822 - 1894) was a writer on English literature and one of the earliest Professors of English Literature.
