More Than a Runner
Robert H. Sanders
Six years before on one of their many runs through the desert in Kuwait while awaiting orders to deploy to Afghanistan, Chris had made a pact with Tyler to run the Boston Marathon. They would cross the finish line holding their clasped hands high. Tyler had said then, only half jokingly, that maybe they would beat out the Kenyans.
Now he was finally on his way to California to train with Tyler. His studies at Boston Revere School of Law were completed. He had worked in the Rehabilitation field while going to college and now had his state license as a Rehabilitation Specialist. This is the story of Chris, an aspiring marathon runner. He would be tossed between devastating events and highly uplifting events in his quest to become an elite runner such as Tyler.
Both good luck and bad seemed to follow him. His training, ingenuity and positive attitude as well as the people he met along the way brought him through the misfortunes with good fortune inevitably following.
Through it all the many people who met Chris perceived him as more than a runner.
