Peter Mallinger's auotbiographical account of life in the Boardroom's of Newcastle United and Kettering Town Football Clubs is a fascinating read for any football supporter. His days at Newcastle United were never easy since his appointment as a director coincided with the emergence of Sir John Hall and The Magpie Group whose ambitions were to democratise the club and hand the power to the supporters. As Kettering Town's chairman he had to contend with the high expectations of a highly partisan group of supporters that sometimes even the players found too intense. The two teams are many leagues apart but there were many similarities, as Peter explains, "It was just at Newcastle there were more noughts on everything!
