GARIGARD KIRTON is orphaned as three powerful mages, LORD ODIUS VON DE STOOP, his mother, LADY OFELIA, and her sister, AUNT OLIVIA, take over his parents' castle. Garig's aunt and uncle, MADGE and CHARLES THOMPSON, raise him as their own on a farm near hills with woods. The mage and Druid Priest, HEALER ALDEN MCGARKIN, is his great-grandfather. He tells them the baby will someday be a powerful mage, too. To prepare for this, Garig needs to learn farming, the woods and its animals, a soldier's skills with weapons, and schooling to be prepared for a destiny of a feud already waiting for him.

Garig learns about the family's dragon, but why won't it protect him from a school bully? And he has magic! Little does he know he is being trained for his own future, where he will inherit and uphold the responsibilities of carrying on the feud of many generations-or try to stop it!
