A Perfectly Normal Affair
Carl C. Perito
A Perfectly Normal Affair, is Carl C. Perito's debut novella. The story chronicles the effect Liam's extra-marital affair with Rachel has on Liam's family, particularly his wife Bridget and their grown up disabled son Cedric. The constant fights between Bridget and Liam drive Cedric to seek comfort from friends he made on the Facebook application, "Wrestler". In the process, Cedric discovers another world via that application where he watches the interaction of the avatars from that application.
The novella is probably one of the first fiction books featuring applications from Facebook and is one, which delicately touches on the themes of physical disability, disability discrimination, cyber friendships but most notably, the destructive power of adultery and the damage it can cause if people turn a blind eye to this social problem. Perito is hoping the book though fictitious may help to make people aware of the many problems the physically challenged experience in their daily lives.
