While examining her relationship with her teen daughter, as well as her own life, Nadine understood that there was no way she could rid herself of the spirits of frustration, anger and depression alone.

"Frustration and anger became frequent visitors in the home as my daughter approached her teen years and I ventured into middle age. Neither she nor I spoke about our feelings. We were changing - getting older. Friction between us became more and more common. There were days when I thought I would see nothing but darkness and hopelessness due to lacking. When I prayed and cried out to God to remove the pain, the darkness appeared even more so."
 
In her first book, Nadine is very transparent as she describes how she lost her faith, but she also lets the reader know what she had to do and where she had to go to reclaim it.
