I Laugh to Keep from Crying
Jim Walles
By all rights and reason, I should be dead. In 1969, I survived a terrible car crash that killed my parents, in which I suffered severe blunt trauma to the lower extremities with a severed leg. 10 years and 15 surgeries later I am able to stand up on my own two feet. In 1979, I suffered severe blunt trauma to the head, from which I endured nineteen hours of emergency brain surgery, nine days in a coma, double pneumonia with a collapsed lung, 21 days on life support in ICU and yet here I am, still alive and able to tell you my story. It is only by the Grace of God that I am even alive today to share what I have experienced in my life and the trials and tribulations that I have endured and survived. God has a plan and a purpose for me. I don't know why, but I am alive today to tell you, the reader, my story, so that you may better understand why, "I Laugh to Keep from Crying"
