Confessions of an Unrepentant Rhymester: Poems for All Ages Wilhelmine Estabrook
Confessions of an Unrepentant Rhymester: Poems for All Ages
Wilhelmine Estabrook
This book contains 30 pages of poems. Although rhyming poetry is considered by some to be passé, lots of well-read folk still enjoy reading rhymes, limericks, couplets and nonsense poems. Written in plain language, there is nothing hidden or difficult to understand. In fact this book could have been written for people who didn?t think they liked poetry.
Although a few of the poems do not rhyme, they do have a definite rhythm and they speak of topics familiar to us all. There are poems to read to children, poems on Halloween, Christmas and Arbor day. There are ghosts, goblins, angels, trolls, toads, dogs, cats, and wet paws. They cover the challenges and joys of country life: births, deaths, separation, adolescence, young love, gravel roads and bad weather. They speak of daisies and lilacs and tamarack trees, logging, fishing, apple picking and gardening.
Some poems deal with aging, loss and loneliness, while others celebrate life with exuberance and joy.
