Bobbi and Uncle Miquel Michael Capobianco

Bobbi is a nine year old girl whose Chinese mother wants her to study the piano. She is quite strict about this, but her father, a Mexican man, is more easy-going. Unfortunately, Bobbi loves music, but disklikes the piano. Her feelings about this are so strong that one night she decides to leave home. She walks to the house of her aunt, Esperanza, her father's sister, who is very kind and understanding, albeit a rather strange, perhaps mystical, person. She introduces Bobbi to a mysterious "uncle" Miquel, who truly "see into her soul", and tells her that she needs to study a different kind of musical instrument. Her mother becomes convinced of this, and introduces her to the cello. After much procatice with "Uncle Miquel", a grown-up Bobbi and her mother end up playing together, piano and cello, in a musical contest which great success. Uncle Miquel was not at the performance, and when Bobbi asks her aunt when she will see him again, Esperanza replies that she doesn't know, but that if Bobbi needs him again, he will come.
