The bicentenary of the abolition of the Transatlantic Slave Maafa has revealed a landscape of complex issues impacting on expectations and aspirations of all stakeholders.

Shackles and Webs uses narrative as a way to uncover them, confront the implications, and move on to start new journeys.

While new journeys are being started there must be an appreciation of the benefits for all in reconnecting our diverse worlds with a new foundation, setting up joint enterprises with the lands that were a part of the old triangle. Then a rainbow will be able to shine through the dream, revealing a new structure that embraces equality, hope and freedom, transforming it into a reality.

It is of paramount importance those who profited in the past and continue to do so should play a major role in the development of this new structure. This should not be with a one off apology, but with sustainable opportunities for the lands and the descendants of those affected by the saga.
