A highly personal, honest and vivid account of memorable incidents in a woman''s journey from happy, young motherhood through severe trauma, depression and archaic treatment to full recovery in middle age. Sonia is telling her story to her adult children, who in their youth were only dimly aware of why "mommy" was often absent and did not know where she was. But she also wants to reach out to others who feel discouraged by a long battle against depression. The book describes critical incidents in Sonia''s life as she remembers them: in the happy years before her accident; in the various hospitals where she received what now would be considered archaic treatment; in the severely stressful periods of trying to readjust to family life; and in the successful eventual recovery of mental health and independence.
