Along the way to finding a waterway from the Missouri River to the Pacific Ocean they experience a buffalo hunt, have a grizzly bear encounter, and learn how to survive in the wilderness. The explorers meet many different American Indian cultures along the way including a Shoshone Indian, named Sacagawea, who helps them reach their destination.
