The following Jjeetures have a peculiar history. They were originally deliyered to the Baptist CJ mrch in Caldwell, N. J., in the ordinary coui se of pastoral labors in that place, and were nOt then intended for the press. At the nrgent tetuest of those who heard them, the author was induced to give them to the public. Th Jwere delivered from meager-otes, and from these, as hia copy, the author, himself a practical printer, set up the types of the first edition, t Jhich was published in 1853.
