However reality was actually very harsh to Lily as she grew older. Uprooted from her native land, she moved to America with her family, and although she did her best to adjust, life smashed her with blow after blow, and than driving her into herself where she eventually died a lonely, neurotic, and bitter old woman. In this tragic love story of a woman who loved and lost and became afraid of life, the author also muses on fate and destiny, and whether we are truly the masters of our own lives.
