I teach preschool in my daycare center and all the children love this book. They are very taken by the pictures and are amazed that things they say at home are in the book.

I started writing poetry in 1976. I continued writing, collecting comments my children would make as they were growing up.

They used to tell me how special mothers were. They were amazed how I knew what was going on when I wasn?t even looking. I wrote everything down they said and began to write poems. I started making a book from the rhymes.

I remember them asking me how I had eyes in the back of my head, since I always knew when they were jumping on my bed. I quickly wrote that down so I wouldn?t forget. I remember my son telling me that i was a nurse and a doctor, as I was applying medicine on his knee. In the morning they would come in to wake me very early and would tell me it was late and I would tell them it was still early and put them back to bed for awhile.

Twenty-four years later, I asked Jill Faith Neal to make illustrations for this book. She brought my poems to life. She captured exactly what I wanted to convey.

This book was certainly inspired by my children and I hope you enjoy reading it as it may help you remember and cherish some of the things your children said to you.
