Modern Humor - an Anthology in Prose and Verse - (1920) V/A

Here is a nosegay of live specimens from the works of contemporary authors who have written to get a laugh and got it!! The editors have not been too solemn about their job. They have borne in mind the famous dictum that 'You can amuse some of the people all the time, and all the people some of the time, but not all the people all the time,' but they have tried not to be discouraged by this. Wodehouse, a squib from A. P. Herbert, a satire from T. S. Eliot or Hilaire Belloc, a broad grin from W. W. Jacobs, a sustained frivolity from Gerald Bullett, and a sly smile from E. M. Delafield, together with a salting and peppering of limericks, 'howlers,' etc, and the gems of such mighty columnists as 'Beachcomber' and 'Timothy Shy.'
