Margery Delacorte is breaking off a relationship with Teddy Plaikis. Both are in the art Department of Townsend College. When she discovers he has been painting their young students in the nude, including Katie, one of her favorite students, a violent argument follows. Katie disappears and Peter is distraught. She is his Juliet in the coming production of Romeo and Juliet. Teddy is murdered, his studio torched. There is another murder, and yet another. Margery, Peter, even Jason, Teddy's son are all under suspicion, all having played a part in the lives of the victims.
