In the old times, magic ruled the world. Angels were the most prominent magical creature. But all was not well. Humans were being struck down and segregated by the magical. Because humans didn't have magic, they were suffering. But, 1000 years ago, a human Mage discovered new magic. Borrowed magic. No one remembers this Mage. People argue about their inspiration and methods of making the first borrowed artifact. But this human placed a magical creature extremity inside a gemstone to create a Borrowed Artifact and unleashed... borrowed power. This artifact would allow for humans to channel magic power through their bodies to fight back against their oppressors. Hundreds of years passed and borrowed magic became more and more prominent. But... the Angels created the first curse. A terrible new kind of magic that would punish humans. They thought themselves immune for they had magic inside them. They thought wrong.
