Hutch Carlisle is Houston's most inept private investigator. Living off his father's wealth has made solving his cases unnecessary (not that he is capable of solving them anyway). Instead, he gallivants around the city in his VW Bus with his best friend, former professional basketball washout Dale Easterly. When he is cut off from the family, he has no choice but to accept a high-paying murder mystery that he has no skills to solve. With help from his friends, including his ambitious assistant and Houston Rockets superfan June Bartholomew, Hutch finds himself falling into eccentric misadventures that bring him face-to-face with Houston's dangerous underground.
