This book is about five special people and their adventures which I came across during the family research. I begin with the story of Rabbertus Pluis and his adventures at sea, in which his family played a large role. The second story is about Henry Arnold Pluis. He was fighting during the siege of Brussels and Antwerp in 1830-1832. The third story is about Hindrik Alberts Pluis and his fight during the harsh journey of Napoleon to Moscow in 1812. The fourth story is about Grietje Pluis. This woman gave birth to seven children without ever mentioning a father. The fifth story is about Julius Carel Adolf Pluis. He worked as a Sergeant-major-administrator in the former Dutch Colony, Dutch Indies. He got killed because of a quarrel about a woman.
