Applying in-depth analysis to existing subject matter expertise, policies and doctrine, and other relevant open source information, this paper attempts to flame evolving combat satellite capabilities with respect to their potential applications and implications. Specifically, this paper highlights basic space definitions while also investigating possible methods for and benefits, detractors, and challenges of fielding U. S. combat satellites. Most importantly however, this work spotlights potential threats and possible doctrinal, strategic, and economic reasons for employing combat satellites as part of an integrated U. S. defense-in-depth strategy.
