He grew up in the generation following the one portrayed in Aaron Nash: A Reason To Live. Mr. Jones lived through times of great economic and social change. Early on, his family traveled west to settle in northern Arizona. Not long before World War II, the family moved again to Berkeley, California, and he transferred to UC Berkeley, then worked in the shipyards. After the war, he built and for many years ran a construction business in Reno, Nevada. He has hiked, hunted and fished in much of the West. He has bred and raced thoroughbred horses and earned a pilot s license and scuba diving certification. Mr. Jones has two daughters and now lives in a retirement community in the foothills of the Coastal Range, south of San Francisco. He writes and occasionally enjoys a day at the races or a night on the town.
