After graduation from college he served in the military as a Naval Officer and Pilot for several years. After the military he worked in Industry as an Engineer and Plant Manager for many years and presently works in local government. Charles has previously written a non-fiction book about the Battle of New Orleans, called Chalmette, published by the Hickory Tales Publishing Co. out of Bowling Green, Ky and a novel, Crousilleau, which won the Clark Cox Historical Fiction Award in 2010. Charles, his wife Sylvia, and Velcro the cat live at Lake Waccamaw, NC.
