In near-future Washington D. C., the government is on the verge of establishing its most radical social change to date: with the establishment of a trust fund for all citizens, work will be abolished. All that needs to be done is a simple constitutional amendment expanding the 13th Amendment. Enter our protagonist, chronically heartbroken and newly minted detective Wylie Wainwright. Wylie is hired by Pioneer Publishing to track down the missing last manuscript of America's greatest historian, the late Al Finkel. Along the way, he'll romp the busy streets of D. C. with his friend Carter Ellis and find time to get entangled in all sorts of shenanigans. Ultimately, he'll discover that a history can have more political and social significance than mere words on a page. . .
