Charlie Conti is fourteen years old and starting high school in a new town. That would be difficult for anyone, but Charlie also has to contend with the added problem of being the daughter of The Undertaker: a washed-up, former minion of Doctor Death who has been forced to take his family underground. In addition to looking after her incompetent father and wild little brother, Charlie has stumbled across a very real threat to her new town, and she seems to be the only one who notices - and the only one equipped to deal with it.
