Open Dialogues for Spanish conversation is designed for intermediate and advanced students of Spanish. The dialogues can be used in a traditional classroom or an online course. In a traditional classroom, the students, working in pairs, simply follow the thread of conversation, improvising responses to fill in the blank spaces. While they are working, the professor should circulate around the class, answering questions as they arise. Every ten minutes the students can be asked to suspend their conversations and report on their responses to the class as a whole. After doing so, they can return to their conversations for another ten minutes, and so on. Each dialogue is designed for a traditional fifty minute class block.
