Emotional Intelligence is yet another concept that provides an understanding of the characteristics of effective leaders. We know, however, that any truly relevant knowledge of leadership is grounded in the word of God. Hence, this book endeavors to show the biblical connection to emotional intelligence and effective leadership. The Bible tells us that to be an effective leader one must possess integrity, honesty, loyalty, self-control, and empathy. One must also be able to build positive, trustworthy relationships with other people. To effectively lead, a leader must follow the example of the perfect leader, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The components of emotional intelligence are in alignment with the biblical principles of leadership.
