For people who love God, or would like to love God, but feel somehow misfit in their lives or churches, Jesus has good news. He didn't come to create a religion of Company Men, in which people are as interchangeable as the parts on a car. He came to open the door to followers, people who want to be like him, yet each uniquely made and gifted. John Carter explores four truths that can free people to live better lives: you were made in the image of God, you were made to live in intimate community with other Jesus-followers, you were made to be a learner/teacher, and you were made to serve. Each of these truths, which God crafted into every person, is illustrated with numerous stories and pictures from real-life people as well as the Bible . If all the people who said, "I'm a Christian" suddenly started to live out their God-given dreams in the freedom Jesus promised, it could be a wonderful scandal in every church in the country. And if good news like that spread like a scandal, well, that would be a miracle, really.
