Our New Apartment is Book 2 in the series of Maya's Journey. Mommy and Maya have finally moved to their new apartment from a domestic violence shelter. Maya has finally accepted the fact that she will not be returning home. Children who witness domestic violence need a voice and Katrina offers that voice in her books. She believes that her books give children permission to talk about the violence that they have experienced. The character, Maya allows children to see that their situation is shared. Katrina wants to continually be that "change agent" that breaks the silence in our children.
