The accompanying recording allows the listeners to hear both parts simultaneously, to facilitate learning the pieces. It also allows for either of the instruments to be turned off completely so that an individual instrumentalist can use the recording as their playing partner. The guitar part for each piece is written in several ways to accommodate players of all abilities.
