Workmatters: Blackline Masters, Job Search Contemporary

Students who are ready for a successful school-to-work transition can smooth their way with WORKmatters, a series of teacher resources and student activities developed by Public/Private Ventures. This curriculum guides students in identifying their interests, aptitudes, and personal values; helps them understand the world of work and its requirements for success; and assists in developing concrete skills for job searches and survival. The books' lessons and blackline master activities address JTPA skills as well as SCANS competencies. In Job Search, ever-useful lessons on job-search skills include planning and writing resumes, discovering the hidden job market, using help-wanted ads, making follow-up phone calls for job leads, writing cover letters, filling out job applications, understanding how employers make hiring decisions, and practicing interviews.
