Garry Barton is an Australian business consultant working for a Chicago-based accounting firm. He reviews his firm's computer technology and advises the partnership that they are severely at risk because of their outdated systems. This so enrages the partners that they fire him. Garry joins a small, advanced accounting group and builds up their consulting business, much of it by taking away clients from his old firm. They begin to panic and try threats of violence against him. This doesn't work and the partners become more and more panicked as they see their firm decline and eventually the try and have Garry killed.
