The Telpin Man is book two of The Sol Chronicles and it is the story of Rand. As a young man he became the last of the Telpin Men and to Rand fell the responsibility of the survival of the human race on their adopted world. Unknown to all except the Telpin Men, other intelligent beings inhabit Venus. These beings have long had plans for mankind and they are nearing the execution of their centuries-old plot.

The Telpin have long been the slaves of The Masters and yearn for their freedom. It falls to Rand to fulfill the Telpin Prophecy and bring peace to a world on the brink of destruction. Not only must Rand have to deal with the Masters and the Telpin; he must also stop the Mortans and the Vikans from destroying each other and the Zachan community that is his home.

Only Rand has the ability to do what must be done but a price must be paid for his power. The Venetians pay it after 1000 years of peace.
