My Brother's Keeper tells the story of two brothers, Daniel and TomKincaid, born ten years apart to affluent parents from Beaufort, NorthCarolina. Daniel becomes a successful and respected physician in hishometown community while Tom, spoiled, self-centered, and sexuallymanipulative becomes an alcoholic, sexual predator of women andyoung men. The story follows the lives of these two brothers soon after Daniel isreleased from prison for taking the blame for a crime that his brotherhad committed eight years before in order to protect his brother. Theyeventually meet by chance in a small town in rural North Carolinawhere Daniel had met and fallen in love with a young widow who has ateen-age daughter. However, Tom impacts their lives again when theyoung daughter is found murdered. The story follows the lives of thesetwo brothers to the ultimate conclusion of death and redemption.
