One morning Alex wakes with symptoms which appear to be the flu. But his condition grows rapidly worse, and within twenty-four hours he is completely paralyzed, fighting for his life. Dr. Ted Grogan leads a team of doctors at Olympic Children's Hospital who race against time trying to diagnose the baffling illness, save Alex's life, and cure his paralysis. Dan Lisbon, his family and friends struggle to deal with the boy's terrifying sickness and the fact that he may live or die. But unknown to any of them, another doctor with a different agenda has other plans; plans which could themselves end Alex's life.
