Junebug, a Memoir, is the story of a plucky little girl growing up in the 30's, 40's and early 50's. The Great Depression, World War Two, Catholic education, and the relative innocence of the age all played a role in June's story. Adventure abounds with her 3 brothers, close in age to her own, and two baby sisters some years younger, their faithful dog Prince, and various and assorted neighborhood buddies.

Friendships were cherished, bullies thwarted, illnesses, death, and dying confronted, all within the backdrop of Dick Tracy comic books, enthralling radio shows, such as The Shadow and The Lone Ranger, lazy summer days, school pranks, and, finally, a fierce determination to succeed.

Junebug evokes a nostalgic yearning for simpler pleasures. Laughter and tears, disappointments and successes, innocence and sexual awakenings are all intertwined in this entertaining childhood romp.
