Ho! Ho! Ho!Once again, welcome to this latest volume of The Little Ho! Ho! Book (TLHHB). This volume, as was also the case with Volumes 1 and 2, is designed to directly benefit one of the many fine local chapters of the national Alzheimers Association. This years designated recipientThe Heart Of America Chapter of the Alzheimers Associationis certainly representative of the tone, tenor, and diligence that is necessary from a national perspective to combat the ravages of this debilitating disease. We cant say enough about their hard work and tenacity as they continue to work toward a cure. Hopefully, the collective efforts behind TLHHB will help them in some small way, as 100% of the royalties that are generated by its sales will flow directly to this organization. Alzheimers is a disease that continues to impact a growing number of our population. Current estimates point to nearly 4 million of our own citizens who are now afflicted. And, unfortunately, it appears that Alzheimers will continue to grow at an accelerating pace until we find the medical key that stops its progress. Much of that progress will be the result of financial donations and contributions that come from every part of the country; monies that are absolutely necessary if a cure is ever to be found. But there is another side of this equation. A side upon which TLHHB has a direct impact. That variable is awareness. If TLHHB touches one individual. If it encourages one organization to get involved. If it gives a brief insight into the needs that exist. If it causes a moments reflection on the personal pressures and tragedies that this disease can cause. If it brings with it a growing admiration for those families, spouses, and friends who assist as caregivers to their loved ones. ThenTLHHB will be serving its intended purpose.
