The Lotus and The RoseWhile the United States focuses its attention and energies on ridding the world of terrorism, the Peoples Republic of China follows its deliberate and patient path toward modernization and economic viability. David Zachary, a United States Department of State foreign service officer stationed in Washington, D. C., begins to perceive sinister motives in Chinas slow but steady insinuation into much of the Western Hemisphere. His growing knowledge of Chinas secret intentions is buttressed by information uncovered by Mei Lin Kwan, a young Chinese-born reporter for the Washington Gazette. Together they discover more than they should and soon find themselves directly in the middle of events which could severely disrupt Chinese-American relations and cause an upheaval in global politics and economics. Chinas long term goal of supreme economic dominance of the world becomes threatened by the pairs information. Thus, a clash between The Lotus and The Rose develops.
