Still Water Fifties is a romantic noel set in the late 1950s in Central Nebraska. Kevin Douglas, the main character, is an All-State high school football player. Kevin is going through some restless times as he seeks his way in the world. Fortunately for Kevin, he finds a guru in his par of the world by the name of Jimmy Jurgenau. Jimmy , who formerly was a practicing physician in Kevins hometown, comes to his rescue over and over with bits of philosophical insights and acts of kindness.
