Jack Lee's play, written in the form of a musical, presents an imaginative version of those events, which is closely based on reports of the time. The tight web of conflicting purposes and conspiring factions is woven into a terse drama presided over by the fates, in which the unwary dreamers, Marilyn Monroe, Lee Harvey Oswald and the would-be big-shot Jack Ruby are as much victims as the assassinated politicians.
