Lectures in Abstract Algebra 1
Jacobson
Reprinted edition, May 1966, Volume I. Hardback without dust jacket. Nathan Jacobson, Professor of Mathematics, Yale University. D. Van Nostrand Company, Inc. Princeton, New Jersey. Printed in the USA. Total 217 pages. "The present first volume gives an introduction to abstract algebra and gives an account of most of the important algebraic concepts. In a treatment of this type, it is impossible to give a comprehensive account of the topics which are introduced. Nevertheless we have tried to go beyond the foundations and elementary properties of the algebraic systems. This has necessitated a certain amount of selection and omission. We feel that even at the present stage a deeper understanding of a few topics is to be preferred to a superficial understanding of many." The cloth boards are navy, spine is tight and straight, the pages are clean and without markings. East to read and has drawings of formulas, etc. in black and white. Front board shows a few water glass circles that are noticeable only in bright light. A nice old book with wonderful information that is easy to understand! *1BC2
